Microsoft Excel Implementation of the Smith-Waterman Sequence Alignment Algorithm
This Microsoft Excel template implements the score table for the Smith-Waterman algorithm for local sequence alignment.
The Smith-Waterman algorithm performs a local sequence alignment. It is different from a semi-global alignment in that gaps are allowed throughout the sequences rather than only at the ends.
The table’s largest score values are highlighted in red. These values are the starting point for the traceback step.
